Get With The Movement
tressing creative art in the form of apparel.
Gaining editorial exposure, Ekqualyte has
graced the pages of several street trendy
magazines such as Japanese magazine
Warp, URB, YRB, Complex, Kotori, and Pre-
quel throughout 2006-2007. The big deal
was the feature on the January 2007 cover
of “Apparel News”, which really had LA talk-
ing. This brand is consistently gaining its’
own streets credit and Hollywood recog-
nition nationally and internationally. Man-
uel has had the opportunity to do several
fashion shows/ events for beneficial causes
with various designers and organizations
such as Filmpunks (Autism Speaks), Red
Light PR (Society for Young Philanthropist),
Fashion Meets Music, Gen Art, Dirty Jeans
Event, and his own event Artist Apprecia-
tion Night (LA Aids Awareness). By recog-
nizing the various different forms of artis-
tic expression while living in LA, Manuel
has come up with a way for all artists to be
recognized first hand with his Artist Ap-
preciation Project (AAP). Manuel is forming
his AAP into a non-profit organization in
hopes to build the name and definition of
the project by providing artists’ an avenue
to express themselves and be recognized.
Manuel (aka “!E!”), has been keeping busy
being an artist/ designer and taken his con-
cept of painting live on the road. In prep-
aration of AAP Part 3, he is filming a live
documentary of himself and other artist that
support the EKQ Movement. Bringing the el-
ement of live art to major city hot spots, he
will take this movement world wide. !E! has
had the privilege to paint live for DJ clues
Love of the Roots, Australian artist, Aim-
mee Francis, and legendary Guru on vid-
eo set “Jazzy Ways”. After being invited to
paint live at the Playboy Mansion this sum-
mer and for the Brand New Heavies at their
next Los Angeles event, Manuel surely has
his plate full and we can’t wait for seconds.
M
anuel Jackson, has hit the fashion
scene with a unique flavor of his own. He is
the creative genius and brain child behind
Ekqualyte Apparel. Ekqualyte Apparel pro-
nounced “Equality”, is more than a clothing
line, it’s an “artist movement” whose mis-
sion is to “break down classifications, color
lines, and boundaries.” Ekqualyte Apparel,
has been seen on stars such as Nick Can-
non, Neyo, Ladybug Mecca, Wyclef and Chris
Brown just to mention a few. This refresh-
ing brand blossomed from the anomalous
mind of Manuel Jackson, a recent 2006
graduate of the Fashion Institute of De-
sign & Merchandising, Los Angeles. (FIDM).
Manuel started designing in his garage in
Raleigh, NC in 2004, after embracing his
love for painting on clothing. The line be-
gan with a hand crafted approach to gar-
ments, including painting, burning,Creative ideas
